Hey everyone,
For those of you that have worked with me in the past, there’s a danger of me sounding repetitive here, but as we've already entered the second month of 2022, I’m going to talk about a familiar topic – staff contracts.
And there’s good reason why; Not only because it fits in with The Delforge Group’s February focus – helping you set up for success in 2022 – but because it really is important to every business and manager.
Of course, we all hope that 2022 runs smoothly and certainly after the past couple of years that would be a welcome relief – but as business people whilst we should always hope for the best, we need to plan for the worst. And that relates to our people, our staff, our teams, as much as it does for wider issues. So, when issues with the team arise and we find ourselves in a position that we need to do something, we need to have good staff contracts of employment in place to enable appropriate action. In simple terms, we’ll find ourselves in a much trickier position if we don’t have good staff contracts, irrespective of what’s happened, or how serious the staff issue we face is.
So - and I’ve certainly said this before – we look to our Three C’s…
Currency – contracts need to be kept current and updated.
Consistency – people need to be dealt with consistency and equality.
Comprehensiveness – your contracts need to be comprehensive; they need to cover all practicable eventualities and as an example, here at The Delforge Group have drafted a set of new contract clauses that help you manage staff (should a situation such as a pandemic raise its head again).
So, my request of you – to help set you up for success in 2022 – is that you take the time to dig out all of your staff contracts, lay them side by side and check that they are current, that they are consistent with each other and that they comprehensively cover your business' needs for 2022.
And as ever, we’re here to help you should you need a helping hand.
Well, that’s it for today – thanks all! See you next time.
Jon
